Sultan Sands is the latest gem in the Group’s crown on the Island of Zanzibar. Previously known as La Villa Beach Club – a26 roomed unit, right next to Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. It was acquiredby the Group in early 2000 and retained as was until late in 2006 when theconstruction of 50 additional rooms on its extensive and unused groundscommenced. It re-opened in July 2008 (withthe integration of the NEW 50 rooms into the existing Hotel) as SULTAN SANDS ISLANDRESORT, with a total of 76 rooms. Bedroomcottages are built in single storey African style rondavels, each with twotastefully decorated rooms with a separate changing room leading into thesuperbly appointed en-suite bathroom. The Resort offers a wide range offacilities in addition to those available at the Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa.
Beyt al Chai: Built on 3floors, this traditional house was at one time a tea house, hence it’s name:Beyt al Chai – The Stone town inn. The house was acquired by the Group in 2003and converted into a 6-roomed luxurious boutique Hotel. It’s location on thefamous Kelele Square at the heart of Stone Town, allow guests to soak in theambiance and essence of Zanzibar’s yester-years with a unique respite for peaceand tranquillity. Beyt al Chai, situated only a few paces from the sea,overlooks a beautiful grassy square filled with hibiscus and tamarind trees tothe Indian Ocean beyond. The house is cool and breezy and the top floorbedrooms have wonderful views of the Ocean. It is within easy walking distanceof all the historical and cultural attractions of Stone Town. In May 2007, theBeyt al Chai Restaurant opened in an unused and private ground floor section ofthe Hotel. This has, in a short while,become Stone Town’s finest dining experience!
