By TATO Communications Office
The Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), in partnership with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), has successfully facilitated and participated in the training on the newly upgraded Safari Portal System, held on 28 May 2025 at Crater Hall, Ngorongoro Tourism Centre (NTC).
This critical session, stemming from Ref. No. DC.270/486/01-E/4, was part of NCAA’s preparation to roll out Safari Portal V2—an enhanced revenue collection and client service platform set to go live on 31 May 2025.

Empowering the Tourism Sector Through Technology
The training was a practical, solutions-driven session aimed at strengthening digital capabilities within Tanzania’s tourism industry. Participants, who included key TATO members and representatives from tour companies operating in the Ngorongoro area, were trained on:
- New features and functionalities of the Safari Portal V2.
- System login and navigation processes.
- Customer data verification protocols.
- Vehicle compliance validation under the new TTLB license requirements.
- Real-time booking, payment, and permit processing workflows.
The upgraded system reflects NCAA’s ongoing commitment to efficiency, transparency, and stakeholder inclusion, with the new version integrating several recommendations made earlier by TATO and other private sector actors.
TATO’s Strategic Role in the Transition
As the industry’s leading private sector voice, TATO played a pivotal role in organizing, mobilizing, and supporting stakeholders’ full participation in the training. TATO’s efforts ensured that member companies were well-represented and that the session addressed real operational needs on the ground.
“We commend NCAA for embracing stakeholder feedback and investing in user training ahead of the system’s launch. TATO remains committed to supporting such collaborations that boost professionalism and technological advancement in Tanzania’s tourism,” said a TATO spokesperson.
Feedback and Outcomes on Safari Portal V2 Training.
The training received positive feedback from participants, with many commending the clarity of delivery, hands-on demonstrations, and direct support from NCAA’s technical team. Several operators noted that the new system will reduce administrative delays and improve service quality, especially in peak seasons.
Moreover, attendees were provided with direct support channels, including:
- Phone: +255 734 160 014
- Email: helpdesk@ncaa.go.tz
These will remain available during and after the transition period to assist with any technical or procedural issues.

Looking Ahead
With the official rollout of Safari Portal V2 just days away, TATO urges all members to ensure compliance by:
- Verifying company details and TTLB license status in the MNRT portal.
- Registering all tourism vehicles in line with the new system requirements.
- Continuing to liaise with NCAA for ongoing technical support.
Conclusion
This completed training marks a major step in digital transformation and operational excellence in the conservation and tourism sectors. TATO reiterates its commitment to working closely with NCAA and other government agencies to ensure smooth digital transitions that benefit both operators and conservation efforts.
Together, through collaboration and capacity-building, Tanzania continues to strengthen its position as a leading, professional, and sustainable tourism destination.
