Zanzibar introduces a mandatory insurance for tourists from October 1, 2024.

Starting October 1, 2024, all visitors to Zanzibar, Tanzania, except residents, will need to purchase a mandatory travel insurance policy costing US$44. This insurance, provided exclusively by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC), will cover various emergencies during their stay of up to 92 days. The new rule aims to enhance visitor safety and manage potential risks.
